Hurricane Matthew Suddenly Becomes Rare Category 5 Storm

Hurricane Matthew has strengthened from a tropical depression into a Category 5 storm in a matter of hours. In their 11 p.m. Friday advisory, National Hurricane Center forecasters said the storm’s sustained winds have 160 mph. Matthew is about 440 miles southeast of Kingston, Jamaica, moving west at 7 mph. This is the first Category 5 hurricane in the Atlantic since 2007, when Hurricane Felix reached this intensity.
